How Do You De-stress?

Some people like to read a book, others like to have a glass of wine, and some like to work out. I love working out! When I have a lot on my plate and I’m feeling stressed working out just refocuses me. It also helps to workout at an amazing gym filled with fantastic people. When you are looking for a gym… go visit and try it out! Most gyms offer a free one day trial at the very least. See if you like the vibe, I know that sounds hokey but when you go to a few different gyms you’ll understand what I mean. If you don’t feel comfortable you’ll never go back.

I think the main reason people don’t workout is they don’t like going alone. So here are my two cents…..Try and find a friend who is looking to start working out, AKA a buddy. You and your buddy will hold one another accountable. Also find a gym that has trainers that will show you how to use the equipment. Cardio equipment is a good place to start; my favorite is the rower, excellent total body workout. I also love to bike, if you do too, try a spin class.

Finally and this will sound crazy but here it goes….buy yourself some new athletic wear. OK…take a minute to laugh. I am sure you are thinking that this crazy fashion blogger just wants me to buy this outfit. Honest that is not my reasoning! Take a minute and think of this, you don’t want to go to a party but you buy yourself a cute dress or some smoking hot shoes…. it motivates you! You get dressed in your fantastic outfit and off you go to Great Aunt Tilda’s birthday party. Of course the party is in a basement with no air conditioning on a 90 degree summer day, but hey you are going to look great. The same concept applies to the gym, when you wear your new athletic wear it will motivate you to get to the gym. (Great Aunt Tilda won’t be there.)

This post has been a workout for my fingers, ha ha!  But seriously, whatever it is you do to de-stress, do what makes you truly happy. For me that is working out at my gym, with my workout partner (Patty) by side with a trainer (Dave) who pushes me to be the best me I can possibly be! So thank you Patty and Dave and my LIFW fit fam for being my motivation, inspiration and friends!
